Happy Summer! Thanks for an impactful year.
This school year, thanks to our generous community... We awarded $110,000 in grants to educators, counselors, and coaches to support innovative ideas from the classroom to the playground and beyond. Happy 40th Birthday, SchoolPower!
Thanks to our generous donors, we've supported over 10,000 students with over $13,000,000 since 1981. We are honored to be recognized by the District for 40 years of partnership and support.
The first day is worth celebrating.
Spotless shoes. Freshly cut hair. Brand new backpacks. Empty notebooks. The first day of school is filled with excitement and possibility. At SchoolPower, we remember the joys (and fears) of the first day of school. Today we are energized and hopeful. As always, our mission is to enrich the education and support of the well-being of all children in the Laguna Beach Unified School District. Last week, we worked with the district to distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to ensure all students can start the year ready to learn. Our SchoolPower grant application is open to allow our [...]

Incredible Impact: Hexberg Family Foundation Over $330,000 to Athletics Funding in 9 Years
This year, funding from the Hexberg Family Foundation allowed LBHS Athletics to continue to provide and expand strength training for student athletes. Students flocked to the outdoor “muscle beach” weight stations, coached by a highly qualified staff. “The funded strength training staff has taken our strength program to the next level. Partnering with a trainer who thinks about our conditioning as their top priority has allowed us to run a much more detail-oriented program,” says Ethan Damato, Head Coach Boys & Girls Water Polo. Next year, the Hexberg Family Foundation will continue their support with a $50,000 grant, [...]
Hexberg Family Foundation Receives Hall of Fame Award
On Sunday, June 2, 2019, SchoolPower presented its top honor, “The Hall of Fame Award” (aka The Claes Award), to the Hexberg Family Foundation. The award was created in honor of Claes Andersen, owner of The Hotel Laguna and Claes Restaurant. Andersen opened his restaurant to SchoolPower back in 2001 and underwrote an annual dinner for seven consecutive years, in addition to other generous donations. The Andersen family contributions to SchoolPower totaled over $200,000. With the Andersens as the benchmark, this award is not given lightly. However, it would be hard to find a more deserving recipient than the Hexberg [...]
Hexberg Family Foundation Scores Big For LBHS Athletics
Laguna Beach High School may be the smallest public high school in Orange County, but don’t tell that to its athletic program. Regularly competing against teams from much larger schools, LBHS teams have achieved great success against their larger neighbors. Dedicated athletes, parents and coaches, as well as a supportive community, are some of the factors that go into this success. Debbie and Greg Hexberg and their Hexberg Family Foundation, have gone above and beyond in their support of LBHS’ athletic excellence. First, they are committed parents of two LBHS student/athletes. Second, over the past three years, The Hexberg [...]
